It's nearly October, and we are feeling extraordinary gratitude to our amazing volunteers who have come out to work at the farm! Thank you, from the bottom of my heart to all of you who have coordinated schedules and worked hard tilling, cutting, pruning, planting perennials, fencing, cleaning up, and more. Sydney with the Farm Buds group members came out today, along with Alex and Ellie from UMD, Micki and her son, and kind neighbors Jim and Viv who helped troubleshoot the gas generator. The previous week, Sara Nichols with Service Learning Camp brought out a powerhouse church group and they cut and trimmed overgrowth, moved wood, and tidied up the orchard area. Students from Student volunteers from St. Scholastica will be out on October 6. Thank you to Jimmy John's for their generous food donations to feed hungry crew members and volunteers.
We are seeking volunteers for continuing fall clean up and garden prep in October. Shoreview Natives is planning ground prep for pollinator planting next spring. Youth/student groups are welcome for trail work and woodchipping areas. If you are handy, have tools and/or time to donate, please join the Feywild Farm Community Garden family! We also also seeking a local registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit to sponsor Duluth Shed Company building a new storage shed on site. Tax except status is required. We are seeking organizations for garden space partners next year and beyond. Youth groups are encouraged to garden at the farm and utilize the produce for their programs. We have five beautiful acres to enjoy and share. We ask that growing practices are chemical free.
Machinery and dirt work are needed for "the back forty". Anyone with a Bobcat, Skid steer, or other heavy equipment are welcome to contact me. Let's work something out. We have nearly two acres to expand areas to garden, and we can grow a fantastic amount of produce, in ground plantings, and raised beds. Thank you to Rasmussen Well Drilling for helping out with the well challenges. The water is prosperous and next year we will be on grid.
The farm GoFundMe is still running and we are seeking local businesses for sponsorship- please share. Let's dig in together and grow!
